Vinyl Siding Colorado Springs
Vinyl siding is prevalent in Colorado Springs because it is affordable and doesn’t require the maintenance, such as painting and caulking, that wood siding requires. Unfortunately, vinyl siding is susceptible to hailstorm damage. Storm Guard works with all the major brands of vinyl siding, such as Crane, Mastic (Ply Gem), and CertainTeed and Napco. When the work is part of an insurance claim, we will work with your insurance carrier to replace the siding on the sides of the house that were impacted by the hail, frequently getting approval to replace all the siding on the house.
Wood Siding is another popular choice in the Pikes Peak Region and is much more resistant to damage from a hailstorm than vinyl siding. But, if the hail is sufficiently large, it may cause indentations on the face and splintering on the edges of the wood siding. For most hail damage insurance claims, there may be a few pieces of wood siding replaced, but most of the work will entail sanding of the hail damaged areas and painting of the side of the house that has been damaged.
When the opportunity arises to replace all the siding on a house, Storm Guard recommends either LP SmartSide or James Hardie HardiePlank lap siding—both are high quality products and are impact resistant to withstand most of the hail we experience in the Pikes Peak region. LP SmartSide siding is composed of wood strand and fibers, bonded together with premium exterior-grade resins. LP SmartSide is available as lap siding, shake or shingle siding, and board & batten siding, along with the ancillary trim, fascia, and soffit. James Hardie siding is made from a combination of cement materials and cellulose fibers. Similar to SmartSide, James Hardie fiber cement siding has an array a siding styles including lap siding, shake, and board & batten. Both LP SmartSide and James Hardie siding are excellent choices for the Pikes Peak region and are equivalent enough in their pros and cons that choosing between the two is more a matter of personal preference. Your Storm Guard Customer Service Representative can discuss the pros and cons of each with you to help guide your choice.
Metal siding can come in the form of aluminum siding or steel siding. Although this type of siding isn’t as prevalent in Colorado Springs as vinyl siding or wood siding, there are quality products in the market that make this an interesting option. Similar to LP SmartSide and HardiePlank, aluminum and steel siding are available in as lap siding, vertical siding, and shake and shingle siding. Metal siding provides high quality performance with low maintenance.
